2 Excuses For Not Composting – And How-To Get Around Them

If you’re not composting yet you’ve either got one of two problems…or maybe both. Either way, we’ve got 7 ways to get you past your time and space issues.

Problem : Space  You live in an apartment / don’t have a yard.

Solution : You’ve got three options.

1) Find a way to recycle food waste in your small space

    • 1. Worm Bin

Buy a schmancy one (Worm Bins on Amazon) or make our own (DIY Worm Bin Instructions)

2) Find a place that will take your food waste

    • 4. Community Garden – Google community gardens to find one in your area and contact them to see if you can bring your food scraps there.
    • 5. Compost Facility – Check out findacomposter.com to see if there is a facility near you that accepts food waste.
    • 6. Neighbor’s Yard – Have a friend or neighbor with a yard and the space to compost? Ask them if they’d be into taking on your food scraps. I bet you’ve got at least one friend who LOVES making compost for their plants.

3) Find a service within your community that collects food / yard waste and they’ll do the dirty work for you.

Community driven compost collection services are springing up all around the country. Municipalities have already started offering curbside organic waste collection in certain areas and more and more private collection companies are popping up as people begin to see the opportunity of turning trash into treasure.

Look into curbside composting to see if this is an option for you.

If you’ve got it, tell your friends and neighbors too!

Problem : Time You’ve got better things to do with your time. I mean let’s face it, who (besides all of you garden enthusiasts) wants to make playing in the trash a hobby?

Solution : See options 2 & 3 above.

Time and space aren’t the problem? Tell me what is stopping you from composting in the comment section below and I’ll do my best to help.
